I had started reading “Blindness” by José de Sousa Saramago. In summary, the book is comparable to “Lord Of The Flies” by William Golding, but on steroids. It explores the degradation of society without rules and order, hastened by fear. There are underlying tones of sacrifice of the individual for the common good; some members are willing to sacrifice whilst others are unwilling yet still reap the benefits. I have read over half of the book, having just finishing a rather disturbing chapter. With more than a third of the book left to read, I can not begin to imagine how more brutal it will get.
